Die ursprüngliche Instrumentalbesetzung des `Salve Regina` ist für Streicher- und Bläserstimmen vorgesehen. Da die Bläserstimmen lediglich die Streicher und Chorstimmen verdoppeln und vielmehr als farbliche Untermalung angesehen werden können, verzichtet diese Ausgabe auf die Bläserstimmen. Dadurch kommt der eher einfach gehaltene Chorsatz viel besser zur Geltung und die Streicher bilden eine optimale, teilweise sogar virtuose Umrahmung dazu / This Salve Regina was originally intended to be accompanied by strings and wind instruments. However, the wind parts merely double the strings and the voices, adding color but not indispensable. In our edition the wind parts are omitted, so that the intimate choral texture is heard to far greater effect, the strings providing it with a sometimes virtuosic frame / L'instrumentation originale du `Salve Regina` prévoit cordes et vents. Comme les vents ne font que doubler les cordes et peuvent donc être considérés comme coloration de ceux-ci, cette édition n'en tient pas compte. Le chœur, de composition plutôt simple, est ainsi mis en valeur et les cordes, avec leurs quelques passages virtuoses, constituent un accompagnement parfait
