Chopins Lebensumstände waren im Jahr 1845 eher angespannt, eine geplante Italienreise mit George Sand drohte zu scheitern. Doch mit seiner 'Barcarolle' tauchte er in die Atmosphäre der Lagunenstadt Venedig ein: Die Themen erinnern an Gondoliere-Melodien; sie werden getragen von einer Begleitung, die bildkräftig das Rauschen des Wassers und Ruderschlag suggeriert. Die Grundidee des Strophenlieds entwickelte Chopin weiter zu spannungsvoller, hochkomplexer Musik voller Brüche und Gegensätze. Eine Textrevision dieses einzigartigen Werks gibt uns Gelegenheit, es nun auch separat (neben dem Chopin-Band 'Klavierstücke', HN 318) und mit ausführlichem Begleittext anzubieten / Chopin’s circumstances were rather strained in 1845, so that a planned trip to Italy with George Sand looked as if it would fall through. Yet with his 'Barcarolle' he immersed himself in the atmosphere of the lagoon city Venice: the themes are reminiscent of gondolier melodies; they are carried by accompanying figures that evoke the rush of water and the sound of oars. Chopin developed the basic idea of the strophic song into exciting, highly complex music full of breaks and opposites. Revising the text of this unique work has given us an opportunity to also offer it separately (alongside the Chopin volume 'Piano Pieces', HN 318) and with extensive explanatory notes / Chopin vécut une année 1845 difficile, qui faillit être marquée par l’annulation d’un voyage prévu en Italie avec George Sand. Il se plongea pourtant avec sa 'Barcarolle' dans l’atmosphère de Venise, la ville-lagune: les thèmes employés rappellent les mélodies de gondoliers; ils sont soutenus par un accompagnement suggérant de manière très imagée les clapotis de l’eau et les coups de rame. Chopin développe la forme strophique à la base de l’oeuvre en une musique très complexe, remplie de tension, de contrastes et de ruptures. Nous avons profité de la révision de la partition de cette oeuvre unique pour l’éditer de manière isolée (parallèlement au volume Chopin «Pièces pour piano», HN 318), accompagnée de commentaires détaillés
